How I Came to the United States
Moving to the United States in 1980 I had my first child, daughter, Melissa, born on July 24, 1979. In October of 1980, my husband, a US Army Seargent, had orders to move to the United States. We arrived at the Fort Stewart, GA, army airfield and I was about 8 months pregnant with my second daughter. I had a nosebleed as I stepped out of the airplane at the airfield and the air seemed very humid. Also, I was very big at that time. Soon we got housing off base in a townhouse in Hinesville, GA. Sabrina was born in an army hospital at the Fort Stewart army base (Melissa was born in a German hospital in Ruit, Germany) on April 12, 1981. We lived here for about 1 year and then my husband got orders to move to Panama, Republic of Panama.
