My Cat the Narcissist
My cat is a Narcissist
Cat Psychology
The cat's name is Garfield or Miss Kitty, the two are used interchangeably by me. She is 14 years old now and is an elderly cat but still 100% strong in her narcissistic behavior. She was spayed when she was 6 months old and she knows it and she sees this as a benefit since she only had/has herself to take care of all of her life :-).

She Scratches Where She Wants To
She scratches the door frame even though we got her a corner of the wall scratching post, a nice one too, but she doesn't use it. She also scratches the couch even though she also has a tree outside. She does use the tree whenever she can but she uses the tree and the inside areas interchangeably :-).
She Only Likes What She Likes
If we get her a toy, now in her old age, she acts as if she is afraid of the toy or doesn't use it at all. We once got her a cat house and it was called a cat condo and she never ever went inside and she hated it and I wonder, why do some cats love those and she hates it? No more condo buying for her. No more toy buying either. The last toy we got was a stick with an attached toy we were supposed to swing it at her and she could catch and grab it but she hisses at it instead. My son said she is afraid of it. She loves to chase a thread of wool but not all the time and she is tired very easily due to her age, I guess, and she sleeps most of the day.
If we go somewhere by car and come back she runs down from the porch towards the car and he has to be careful not to hit her. I don't know why she does that. Only she can explain that :-).
The Vomit
I let her do what she wants because if I don't and I complain then she will vomit more often and the throwing up seems to be used as a punishment by her towards me/us if I complain and get angry at her so I no longer get angry at her and let her do what she wants and I praise her as much as possible so she can be happy and feel like a queen and throw up as little as possible. It is worse if she throws up on the carpet than on the floor, of course, and I bet she knows that too. I praise her and tell her she is so pretty and cute and rubs her neck, and I do this a lot to keep her happy. She loves her neck rubbed, a lot.
She Knows Whom to Mess With
My husband gets angry at her all the time and she really got him trained to do her bidding and he always threatens to get rid of her because he is letting her rule him. This is how she rules him, with food. I tell him to stop getting her snacks and let her eat the food but he keeps buying snacks and he won't listen so then the cat rules over him every single time and make him angry every single time. He gets angry because she only loves some of the snacks sometimes and other times she ignores them the second time around. It is confusing.
The Accidents Got Worse with Age
We had to get rid of the smaller cat litter box because she always had accidents outside of the box so now he bought a huge litter box and everything is fine. She sure has everything under control, even the litter box.
I found out she likes to lick butter so whenever she comes looking for a snack I give her a teaspoon of butter. Now she also is eating a beaten raw egg once a day.
